Winery Retorno

"The Return, can you imagine? Meanwhile, I search for something that resembles you. I search and I don't find it."

  • Francisco Tario, Brief Diary of a Lost Love

The road is beautiful when it's daytime, and even better when it's empty. After studying at CESSA, Adrian Garcia took to the road to continue his studies in Monaco, only to decide to take the return journey back to his roots. He specialized in enology and viticulture at UABC, and finally, in August of '08, he established his winery: Retorno.

Adrián, when you get to know him, whether in the valley or in our online tastings, never misses an opportunity to share his life and teach anyone around. That's why he has never given up his role as a teacher at UABC. The first time I saw the symbol of "retorno" (return), the same signage found on the road and streets, it intrigued us and compelled us to want to know more. The more we talked and our friendship grew, the more we realized how fitting the concept of the winery was. It's a family winery where Adrián handles the wine production, his parents take care of distribution, and his brother is in charge of the labels. He hopes that when his children grow up, they will inherit this project. The concept of "retorno" is present throughout the whole project - from Adrián, the man from the city who returns to the countryside, from going abroad to coming back to the city; the return of the land, taking care of it and working it, gives back the wine; finally, the familial return where, after receiving his family's support, he returned to create a project together. This philosophy is transmitted into each of his wines. For example, his wine "Homenaje" (Homage) is a way to honor the teacher who had the most significant impact on his education, and by doing so, he tries to give back the knowledge he received. We invite you to discover his wines through Dos Cuerpos. If you have any questions, please let us know.
