One of the most important missions at Dos Cuerpos is to understand and share all the unique characteristics of our products. On this occasion, we're sharing what we know about the sweet fruit of the quiote.
The maguey flower is a yellow-colored flower with a delicious and unique flavor. Let's remember that the quiote emerges just as the agave plant dies. The time it takes for the quiote to emerge depends on the type of agave; some take fifteen years, while others can take up to forty. The flower blossoms at the tip of the quiote, and both the quiote and the flower are edible. Their taste is bitter, which is why the flowers usually undergo a process involving boiling in water and salt, the removal of the stem and pistil (which contains pollen), leaving the petal ready to be eaten. They can also be stuffed with cheese, battered and fried, used in sandwiches, with eggs, and the list goes on.
At Dos Cuerpos, we specialize in tastings and the distribution of agave-based spirits and Mexican wines. Tasting is the contemplation of the alcohol being sampled, and in this sense, these texts aim to promote ongoing reflection. Please let us know if you enjoyed this text, if it helped you in any way, and if there are any discrepancies, please feel free to let us know.
