¡Qué viva México!

One of the most important missions at Dos Cuerpos is to understand the background of all our products, from who crafts them, why, and how, but also the historical, social, and artistic aspects that our products have carried. That's why we want to share works of different arts that reference the products we handle. This time, we're sharing the film "¡Qué viva México!" by Sergei Eisenstein. This film aims to portray the political events of the 19th century in Mexico, primarily the revolution, but what interests us more at Dos Cuerpos is the complete chapter the director dedicated to maguey plants. It's a movie with impressive, beautiful, and nostalgic images of Mexican traditions that persist to this day, for better or worse. It's a photographic study of portraits, attire, and Mexican rituals, specifically those of Tehuantepec. It's an authentic representation of that era through a foreign perspective, depicting a Mexico that, as the narrator states, is beautiful yet cruel.

We hope you enjoyed it, and if you have any suggestions or comments, we're here and attentive to them.
