Brief history of wine

One of the most important missions at Dos Cuerpos is to understand the background of all our products, from who crafts them, why and how, but also the historical, social, and artistic aspects that our products have had. That's why we want to share works from various arts that reference the products we handle. On this occasion, we share the following text by Eduardo Galeano.

Brief History of Wine:

Reasonable doubts prevent us from knowing whether Adam was tempted by an apple or a grape. What we do know, however, is that there was wine in this world since the Stone Age, when grapes fermented on their own.

Ancient Chinese songs prescribed wine to alleviate the ailments of the sorrowful.

The Egyptians believed that the god Horus had an eye of sun and another of moon, and the eye of the moon shed tears of wine, which the living drank to fall asleep and the dead to awaken.

A vine was the emblem of the power of Cyrus, king of the Persians, and wine flowed at the feasts of the Greeks and Romans.

To celebrate human love, Jesus turned water into wine from six water jars. It was his first miracle.
